Looks like a good fix, thanks! Confirmed this fixes the crash on 3.5.1. Interestingly, there was no crash previously on 3.4 or 3.3. |

The fix is very straightforward, it looks like it was just an oversight.
(Note that the corresponding Python function is public, so that I also removed
staticdeclaration here)
